Where can I find support from other parents like me?

Support groups come in many forms. They may be people who meet in person. They may be online chat rooms where parents contact other members. They could be electronic newsletters where parents subscribe by sending an email to a mailing list. They could be message boards or discussion groups where parents post messages and reply to messages from others.

Support groups and online groups can be used to share valuable information about doctors, medications and treatments. Parents can share what they have learned from their own experience with others in the same situation.

It is important to remember these people are well meaning, but they do not know a particular child’s medical needs. Parents should always check with their child’s doctor before trying something new.
